The Association for Achievement and Improvement through Assessment (AAIA) held their annual conference in Bournemouth, UK, 16th - 18th September 2009.

Sue Swaffield presented the paper The misrepresentation of Assessment for Learning. In this paper she elucidates the concept of assessment for learning, presenting what could be considered features of authentic AfL. She then scrutinises the DCSF's 'Assessment for Learning Strategy', examining it in the light of a research and practice informed understanding of AfL.

At the conference Sue was also made an honorary life member in recognition of her exceptional contribution to the association over many years.
