How was God made?
Written by Amie, Emily and Emma (Year 3)

Introduction

We are interested in God because we are Christians. We wanted to find out how God was made. These are our research questions.

* How was God made? * What does heaven look like? * What does God wear? * Does God wear a white gown? * What does God look like? * Does God look like a cloud? * Where does God live? * Does God live in a cloud?

Methodology

First we thought of asking a Librarian to help us find a Bible to look in to answer our questions. Then we decided to ask adults we know who are Christians. We chose questionnaires because it’s easiest to collect the data because it’s easier for people who are busy to fill in in their spare time. We chose eight adults who we could give questionnaires to easily. We piloted our questionnaire and found out that only one question wasn’t very clear.  We asked people if they wanted to fill in our questionnaire. We had to keep their answers anonymous.

Findings

We got seven out of eight replies back

Q1. How was God made?

Four people said that he was always there and three people said that he has always existed. This means that everyone in our sample thinks he has always been there.

Q2. What does heaven look like?

Some people said it is a beautiful, marvellous, happy place. One person said it was like earth and one
person said it was like nothing on earth. One person didn’t know what it was like but thought it was a
fantastic, wonderful place.

Q3. What does God wear?

Three people said they did not know, two people said no clothes, one person said that he doesn’t need worldly possessions and one person said he is a spirit and doesn’t have clothes.

Q4. Does God wear a white gown?

Four people said yes and three people said no.

Q5. What does God look like?

Three people said we are made in his image. One person said he looks like us. One person says he looks like whatever he wants. One person says he is a bright light and one person said he is a presence.

Q6. Does God look like a cloud?

Everyone said no.

Q7. Where does God live?

Four people said everywhere, two people said in heaven and one person said in heaven and on earth. One person also said he lives in our hearts.

Q8. Does God live in a cloud?

Everyone said no.

Discussion

We thought that the answers to our questionnaires would be funny and serious . We were surprised that only two people said that God lives in heaven because usually probably everyone would say he lives in heaven and everyone at church says that too. Our data has given us a bit of a clue about how God was made but we think nobody really knows. We found out that he doesn’t wear any clothes, but he might do. We’ve found out a lot more about him. We chose a subject that was quite hard in fact one of the hardest we could think of.

Conclusion

If we could do our research all over again we would improve it by changing the question to find out how we were made.  We will not do anymore research about God because we’ve got the main answers and we will never really know. Maybe when we get to heaven we can ask him and see if anyone is actually correct!
