Introduction We chose to do this research because two of us wanted to find out about trees and one wanted to find out about football. It was interesting to see what would happen at the end with football and cutting down trees. These were our research questions. * Do you like football? * What do you like about football? * Why do you think people like football? * Why do people like cutting down trees? * Do you think it is important to save trees from being cut down? * Do you think people care more about football than saving trees from being cut down? * Why do you think people care more about football than saving trees from being cut down? Methodology We chose phone interviews because we wouldn’t have had enough time to go round and ask the tree cutters. We chose questionnaires to collect our data because they were simple to give out and get back. Findings Q1. Do you like football? We found out that all the children liked football but only 1 tree cutter liked it. Q2. What do you like about football? We found out that one tree cutter liked football because it’s competitive and he likes putting lines on the pitch and making it look smart. The boys liked football because they like scoring goals and tackling and it is fun and not complicated. The girls liked football because it is good exercise and they can tackle and run around. Q3. Why do you think people like football? Some people think it’s because people see a match and then want to play it, because it’s interesting and enjoyable, most people can join in, they get fresh air, it’s good exercise, it’s fun, people like being part of a team and there is a good atmosphere. Q4. Why do people like cutting down trees? All of the tree cutters said they didn’t like cutting trees down and didn’t think many people liked cutting trees down either. They said that people might cut trees down if they’ve got a destructive nature or want money or if the trees are dangerous or get in the way or they want firewood or to make wooden things. Q7. Why do you think people care more about football than saving trees from being cut down? The tree cutters thought it was because people were more interested in football and they didn’t realise the effect cutting down trees was having on the environment. The boys thought it was because people thought football was more fun and they wanted to keep fit. The girls thought it was because a lot of people like football and if you cut down trees there is more room to play it. Discussion We thought that the tree cutters would not like football because they want to cut down trees more. We thought that half would want to save trees and half would want to cut them down. We were surprised that one tree cutter liked football and not just his job. Our data tells us that tree cutters don’t like cutting trees down more than football. We found out that the people we asked all wanted to save trees more. Conclusion If we could do our research all over again we would improve it by making the question a bit easier to
