About us

The HCD Student Partnership is a partnership between the 'Leadership for Learning: the Cambridge Network' at the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education and the London based educational trust 'Highest Common Denominator'.

It has a key place in 'Leadership for Learning: the Cambridge Network' and has a coordinator (Ros Frost), associate staff and a developing network of people interested in promoting children and young people’s participation, especially in schools.

The partnership between John MacBeath and HCD predates John's arrival at the Faculty of Education in 2001. Earlier work focused on the development of 'The Learning School' with Gregor Sutherland, the first HCD Student Partnership Coordinator. However following John's appointment this work expanded to complement the research undertaken by others over a number of years in the field of 'Pupil Voice' within the Faculty of Education, most notably that of Jean Rudduck and Michael Fielding. Today the HCD Student Partnership continues to build on this legacy through its research, consultancy and publications.
