About us

Leadership for Learning: the Cambridge Network (LfL) was founded in 2001 by John MacBeath, David Frost, Sue Swaffield and Kate Myers. The decision to create a network, rather than a physical leadership ‘centre’, was based on the view that although LfL has a Faculty locus its main activities would be ‘out there’ among its members and associates. They, together with Faculty staff, international researchers and key policy makers, engage in activities that develop a web of collaborative knowledge creation and exchange.

Who we are and what we do
The Leadership for Learning team is located within the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education and draws upon the expertise of its staff as well as upon associates. It is a member of the Faculty-based academic group Leading Learning for School Improvement (LLSI) and is coordinated by a management team.

The management team consists of:

John MacBeath

David Frost

Sue Swaffield

Joanne Waterhouse

Ros Frost (LfL Network Coordinator)

Kate Myers (Senior Associate)

Associates

LfL Associates are individuals who work with us on a range of research and development activities. They are typically independent professionals who have developed their expertise through substantial experience as headteachers, school inspectors, and local authority advisers. The group meet termly to share information, ideas and to learn together about leadership for learning.
